In 2007 I discovered a book called “Kaleidosope~ideas+projects to SPARK YOUR CREATIVITY” by Suzanne Simanaitis. It was pure eye & soul candy for me and reignited my passion for creating art. Over the years I have done just about every sort of artsy fartsy craft known to man: drawing, painting, cartooning, pottery, embroidery, jewelry, sugar craft, potpourri, quilt making, sewing, zine writing, knitting, dough ornaments, seed art, macrame, stained glass and last but not least collage.

I was inspired after reading  what Ms. Simanaitis says in her introduction: ‘By the way, nothing in this book can teach you how to be creative. You already are  creative. The trick is to allow that playful impulse to blossom, and this book just might be helpful in that regard.’

Here are some examples of my art. In my posts I will share my methods and my inspiration. Column on the right has links to larger versions of work. Comments are appreciated and welcomed!

  1. MARY! Michael just showed me this work og yours and it’s fantastic! I was thinking you could sell them (even just usage rights) to magazines as spot illustrations. I used to hire work like that all the time. I give you the jist of the story and you create a piece of art that reflects it. In the late 90s, it was $400/pop but it’s probably more like 6-800. And you keep the art and only give away usage rights. You could make promo cards and mail them to names you find on mastheads of magazines (or buy a mailing list).

Anyway, I know this is a lot of work, not only the work, but then the blog as well. It looks great and I think you will do well.
